Design #1:
The colors work really well and flow together. They also relate back to basic primary and secondary colors which appeal to younger kids in school. There is hierarchy throughout the poster showing what they want to be the center of attention. (the 50% off sign) The colors and the text make it easy to follow the poster and see what message is being displayed. The two things that don't work as well in this poster are that the text on the bottom is really small and the text in the colored bars on the top left blends in with the yellow bar making it hard to read. Overall, the colors were my favorite aspect because although they were bright and varied, they flowed together and directed the reader's eyes.
Design #2:
The background color is nice and I like the logo design in the corner. The white shapes contrast well. There is also some hierarchy but not enough to make the flyer look even and legible. The overall look is very cluttered and busy and the text should have been a different color to make it pop out. They could have used a color from the rainbow or from the logo to give the text more dimension. There is also too much information in the box; they should reduce their wording and make it more straightforward so that readers don't have to read paragraphs and can just easily see the information. I also think removing some elements would be beneficial because there are a lot of different graphics that don't compliment each other.
Design #3:
I really like the different-sized circles because it adds movement to the poster. I also like the "you" and "we" elements within the circles because they are clear and effectively deliver the message of what role each party plays for the company. I don't really like the color scheme because it doesn't seem like the right colors for a business but the layout is nice. Also, the two color blocks with text along the bottom make it too cluttered. I think it would look better if there was only one. Hierarchy is also evident and effective in this poster.
Design #4:
I really like the different shapes and how there's a lot of blocking but it is centralized by one main picture. I think the color palette could have more consistency but I do like the darker tones like burgundy and hint of navy blue. I think the circles are nice but the pictures could definitely have better placement because the top picture is cut off and seems as if it was a mistake. I also think the black header and border really tie the poster together since there isn't much consistency overall. The vertical text on both sides is very ineffective and I think the poster would definitely be better without it or with the text upright in a different area.
Design #5:
The color combinations are really nice and flow together with the entire poster. I really like the use of geometric shapes and the variety shown around the graphic itself. I also think the white box border and the white boxes around some of the text contribute to the geometric theme going on. Overall the poster is very effective, simple, and straightforward and I really like it. I think this is one of the more successful designs because there's not too much going on but enough to be visually appealing and deliver the message.
Design #6:
This design is cute, flity, and really appeals to the valentine's day theme. I think the ''happy" and "day" should have a little bit more to them or at least be of a different color because they get lost in the background. The "Valentine's" is really nice and stands out well. The font is fun and stands out against the rest of the poster. It also takes it's place as the main element in the words listed in the middle and I think that is effective since it gets the point across right away without having too much going on since "Happy Valentine's Day" is a longer phrase. However, the background color should be a different color because it blends in too much with everything else and doesn't let the text send the message it needs to. It would definitely not get attention if it were hanging on a wall somewhere because it all blends too much. The hierarchy is very effective.
Design #7:
This is one of my favorite styles of designs because of the layout and the contrast. The bright yellow really pops out amongst the black background and white text. It draws the customer's eyes towards it but isn't too distracting from everything else on the menu. I like how structured everything is and even though the front of the menu has organic food shapes all over it, they are positioned as a border and give their respective space to the middle element. It is clean, structured, and balanced on both sides and is very effective. There is a lot of variety on the menu side with the elements and hierarchy but it all very balanced and well composed.
